We are partnered with JK Group as they embark on an exciting growth journey in the Queensland market to appoint a Senior/Associate Geotechnical Engineer to develop, lead and take ownership in the geotechnical investigations service line across the state.

In this role you will be part of the JK Group leadership team in QLD. Working with JK Group’s Brisbane Office Manager, you will play a key part in the growth of the QLD business, including engagement and acquisition of new clients and establishment of operational efficiency. Additionally, you will be responsible for the full scope development and delivery of simple to complex investigations and advisory programs on behalf of our broad range of government and private sector clients.

With a balance of technical focus and project/business leadership, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to JK Group’s business development plan for Queensland.
  • Identifying new opportunities, potential clients and partners.
  • Preparing and submitting successful tenders and proposals for new and repeat business.
  • Planning, coordinating and executing a broad scope of field investigations to a very high-quality standard.
  • Looking for strategies to enhance and optimise our processes, including the use of new technology.
  • Participating in the recruitment of junior engineers.
  • Mentoring and coordinating junior staff, helping in their professional development.
  • Contributing to the technical delivery of our projects, including:
  • Development of subsoil models based on integration of information gathered during site investigation.
  • Integration of geological features in the interpretation of geotechnical data.
  • Development of geotechnical design solutions from feasibility through to construction phase.
  • Walkover slope stability assessments and complex construction phase inspections.
  • Preparation of complex technical reports including peer reviews.
  • Developing and owning key Client relationships
  • Collaborative interfacing with JK Environments, JK Drilling and Soil Test Services

You should be inquisitive, articulate and above all, be prepared to flourish in a diverse and inclusive team environment. Ideally, you should demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in civil/geotechnical engineering or engineering geology
  • You will be a Chartered Engineer/RPEQ
  • Extensive experience in the development and delivery of field investigations and advisory services in South-East Queensland
  • You will have extensive experience logging boreholes and directing insitu testing in boreholes, logging test pits and identifying shear surfaces in colluvium, and are familiar with all commercially available borehole drilling and sampling techniques
  • Familiar with CPT and DMT investigations, and interpretation of test results
  • Familiar with geotechnical software, such as gINT, Leapfrog, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W 2D & 3D, WALLAP, PLAXIS 2D & 3D, Circly, etc
  • Project management expertise and the ability to deliver projects from bid to completion
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
