The Queensland Government is delivering the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Project (DSC). This is a transformational infrastructure project comprising a new passenger rail line that will revolutionise how people connect between the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay and Brisbane. With the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, this project will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come. As Executive Director, Stakeholder & Engagement, you’ll be a key part of the government leadership team responsible for shaping this iconic piece of infrastructure. Reporting to the Project Director, you’ll be responsible for developing and driving the Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Strategy for the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line project.
About the Role
- Lead the design of an accessible and inclusive project identity and voice.
- Lead the development, implementation and co-ordination of communication and engagement strategies and actions for both internal and external stakeholders, including the development of a Stakeholder Engagement, Marketing and Communication Strategy, Partnering Strategy, project content for internal and external audiences, management of stakeholder engagement and information sharing and co-ordinating community engagement initiatives.
- The preparation of reporting, governance and government relations documents and material for community engagement and stakeholder meetings and briefings.
- Create a high performing communications team by nurturing a positive and high-performance work culture reflecting the values of collaboration, respect, high-performance and efficiency and ensuring an environment of inclusion and psychosocial safety which fosters continued learning and sharing across the project team and broader TMR.
- Act as a key contact for project stakeholders and partners.
- Manage and update the Project Information Centre in the Sunshine Coast region.

About You
You are a seasoned executive leader with experience in:
- Extensive demonstrated experience in developing, managing, monitoring and executing complex marketing, media and community engagement and partnering strategies and activities for a major infrastructure project.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple and diverse stakeholder relationships with proven ability to build strong and enduring relationship to enable delivery of best-for-project and community outcomes.
- Proven ability to work successfully in an executive leadership role in an environment with complex governance arrangements to deliver high quality project, governance and reporting outputs.
- Proven experience in successfully leading and mentoring a team ensuring appropriate capability to ensure all members contribute to a culture of collaboration, respect, inclusion and psychosocial safety as well as delivering high-quality outcomes within accelerated timeframes.
- Possess excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Applicants will ideally hold a degree in fields such as public policy, political science or communications.
Location: Brisbane CBD or Sunshine Coast
Remuneration & Conditions
Salary: $241,582–$261,057 p.a. (inc super)
Term: 5-Year Fixed Term Executive Contract
Classification: SES2 High
