The Queensland Government is delivering the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Project (DSC). This is a transformational infrastructure project comprising a new passenger rail line that will revolutionise how people connect between the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay and Brisbane. With the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, this project will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come. As Executive Director, Governance and Controls, you’ll be a key part of the government leadership team responsible for shaping this iconic project. Reporting to the Project Director, you’ll lead a specialist team, establishing efficient and modern governance and project management systems for the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line project.
About the Role
- Provision of expert business services and project controls advice to the Project Director with regards to key risks, issues and opportunities to enable development of a high-performing project team.
- Establish and implement a Project Controls Plan which captures best-practice project management processes and systems required to manage the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line project as it moves through the pre-delivery and delivery phases. This plan will include, but will not be limited to, controls related to procurement, risk, scheduling and reporting.
- Establish and implement a Project Governance Plan and prepare governance material for internal and external stakeholders, such as briefing notes, executive correspondence, reporting and presentations.
- Collaborate and partner with internal and external experts to develop a Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line People Strategy to ensure ongoing fit for purpose workforce and workplace capability and capacity.
- Lead and mentor a high performing project controls team ensuring appropriate capability to ensure all members contribute to a culture that is results driven, collaborative, respectful, inclusive and psychologically safe while ensuring time and budgetary requirements are met.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the project’s Executive Leadership Team to ensure the projects success.

About You
You are a seasoned executive leader with experience in:
- Building and embedding enterprise-level governance and controls frameworks for complex infrastructure programs, (preferably transport).
- Leading high-performing teams in fast-paced, high-stakes infrastructure delivery environments and overseeing the performance of industry partners.
- Delivering collaborative outcomes across a diverse stakeholder landscape.
Preferred applicants will hold a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Location: Brisbane CBD or Sunshine Coast
Remuneration & Conditions
Salary: $241,582–$261,057 p.a. (inc super)
Term: 5-Year Fixed Term Executive Contract
Classification: SES2 High
